GMS 8th Graders Tour Greendale’s Living Museum

Greendale Middle School eighth grade students toured the Greendale’s historic downtown district. Over 200 students und their teachers were escorted by volunteer members of the Greendale Historical Society on Friday, May 27.

Various Greendale areas were featured including Apricot Court, Angle Lane, the Village Hall, Historic Hose Tower and the new Historic Greendale Welcome Center. This is the third year that students from Mrs. McCarthy’s and Mrs. Perry’s classes have walked the paths and courts of our National Historic Landmark.

After the tour, a student observed, “I live in a Greendale Original, and didn’t know about the interesting history of my home!”

The Greendale School District’s new superintendent, Dr. Gary Kiltz, along with his wife and daughter, joined the group.

The theme of this year’s study was focused on the building of Greendale as a sign of hope during the depression.  As a follow-up, students will create postcards illustrating the meaning of “hope” to Greendale in the past, present and future. Tour guides were Sally Chadwick, Dee Dixon, Bill Kewan, Marge Hill, Mary Mainella, Ted Mainella, and Brenda Siemers.

Wow Dinkfester, I still can’t figure out how you haven’t been kicked off this sight! How dare you say the Veterans Memorial is pathetic, maybe you’re a Nazi? I hope if you have children that they grow to be better people than you are. Again, you don’t OWN the school board. You sure do like to bully a lot of people. This story was about the 8th graders learning about this Villages History, and you go and make some stupid comment that has NOTHING to do with this story. I know we all have 1st Ammendment rights, but that doesn’t mean you get to BULLY people on this site or this community. Frankly in my opinion it has gotten to the point with you, if you have nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself. Stop hiding behind your “egg” name and be a man! I’m not afraid of you or antone else. I’m a proud mother of 4 beautiful children and 1 grandchild, and proud to call GREENDALE my HOME. If you don’t like it here, LEAVE! I’m sure Greenfield would love to have you!

Dum Dum, that’s what I’ll call you! First off my name is Kim, not Kimmy, how childish! I will be printing your response and showing SB members how YOU think you have won! No one wins! You and your troll followers think you know everything, you really don’t ! I know how politics works, you may think I don’t because I’m a woman, but trust me, I probably know more about the rules than you. Your former comment on how Greenfield schools didn’t need a referendum for their schools, well they are re-vamping the libraries, they got the money from the sale of Chapman and the land being redeveloped on 84th and Layton, so no Ref needed…do your research, sometimes your remarks make you look and sound like A DONKEY! Have a great day!!!

Outstanding school event and shows the one and only Historical Society Hater how hateful he is.

Even the new school administrator sees the importance of the Historical Society.

    Does the school board?
