Grand Opening for Historic Greendale Welcome Center Set for May 7

The Village of Greendale will celebrate the grand opening of the Historic Greendale Welcome Center on Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m. The Welcome Center is located in the heart of the historic business district in Greendale, at 5680 Broad Street.

The Historic Greendale Welcome Center serves as a gateway for people when they are visiting the Village of Greendale. It will provide education on the history of this Greenbelt community, promote all local businesses, and keep everyone up to date on all upcoming events. The goal is to showcase our quaint, historic garden community to visitors as an ideal destination to visit in Wisconsin.

Take a walk through history as you move through the welcome center. Eye-catching wall displays will educate visitors on the early creation of Greendale, the progression through the years, and Greendale Today. There is a seating area and television that will feature the area’s attractions, natural beauty, and history for your pleasure.

The grand opening will be in conjunction with the Greendale Public Celebrations Committee’s Spring into Greendale event that will be going on from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Broad Street. Spring into Greendale features shop specials, Spring-themed activities, opportunity to win a bike, Marg’s Village Boutique Fashion Show & Luncheon, live music, and much more.

Greendale’s original fire truck, the 1938 Diamond T, complete with ladders, hoses, and other vintage fire-fighting gear will be on display during the Grand Opening of the Historic Greendale Welcome Center. The seventeen-foot-long fire truck was donated to the Greendale Historical Society last November and was the first new fire truck owned by the Village.

“We are very excited to have this truck back home,” said Ted Mainella, president of the Greendale Historical Society. “The Diamond T is a valuable part of Greendale’s history and it will be maintained, displayed and shared with the community.”

Visitors will be able to have their photo taken with the fire engine during the Grand Opening.

In an effort to serve more visitors in Greendale, the welcome center will be open seven days a week from 10 am. to 8 p.m. To learn more about the Historic Greendale Welcome Center: Contact Caitlyn White, Greendale Tourism Coordinator at (414) 423-2100 Ext 3201 or [email protected].
